Economy

Economic Activities:
The economy of the city of Ardahan relies on livestock breeding and farming. It has not developed a sophisticated industry, nor it has a decent stock of tourism facilities.

Livestock Breeding:
The rich flora of the wide open meadows and grasslands have led to the development of livestock breeding activities. Cows and sheep are bred most. Sheep breeding is rather concentrated on Karaman's purple and white skinned sheep, while in cow breeding, preference is made towards the East Anatolian red, vezavod or kalakan species.  Apiculture has developed as well.

Farming:
Unworthy weather conditions prevent farming practices in ranches.  Instead, farming is practiced along the river banks. Here, wheat, barley, rye, and a small amount of potatoes are grown.

Industry:

As said, industry is yet premature in Ardahan. The city holds milk gathering plants and small sized dairies in operation, as they are related to livestock breeding. The biggest industrial organisation existing in the region is Karset. It engages with livestock breeding and produces food.

Transportation:
Transportation is possible by roads.  At the moment, there is not any railway line or airport existing in or known to be accessible from the city.
